St. Michael’s Russian Orthodox Cathedral depends on donations to; preserve our historic sites throughout Sitka, maintain the Cathedral building itself, protect our sacred art, document and preserve the thousands of historic artifacts, and fund further research.

In addition to the preservation of our history, St. Michael’s is a living and operating parish, with regular worship and outreach programs in the community of Sitka.

Time and the often wet weather here in Sitka have put us in a place of great need. Here is just a short list of issues pertaining to just the building:

  1. Our roof has several leaks,

  2. Our basement needs waterproofed, as it floods often,

  3. The exterior needs painted and some wood needs replaced,

  4. The interior wooden floors need refinished; and

  5. The carpet in the altar needs replaced.
